Majid Majidi's film Children of Heaven wonderfully illustrates the beauty of simplicity. In this film, the two main characters, a young boy named Ali and his little sister Zohre from a poor family, endure much hardship when Ali accidentally loses his sister's only pair of shoes. The children's determination, loyalty and willingness to sacrifice make this film very uplifting and inspirational. Above all else, what I like this film is that it proves that it is possible to make a thoroughly enjoyable, funny and deeply meaningful movie without telling a dark or very distant story. Simplicity works very well too. |
